Kyoto based fashion designer, Hideco Sugai describes her clothes as the result
of crossover of not only culture of the West and the East, but the mind and the body, high-tech and traditional, functionality and playfulness. Her fashion is steeped in a rich sense of opposition.
Sugai studied fashion at FIT in New York.
Sugai's concept of her fashion is making fashion out of kimono fabric such as Nishijin-ori, and on top of that, using the techniques and sensitivity of traditional kimono trades to create modern fashion.
